The Montreal Canadiens have officially sent down Logan Mailloux to the London Knights for the 2022-23 season. Until now, he was still technically with the NHL roster, but was injured.

Mailloux was the Canadiens first round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, but hasn’t played a ton of hockey over the past two seasons. So, this is good news that is he healthy again and ready to compete with the always competitive Knights.

The 19 year old is a two-way right defender who played well when he was on the ice in the past two seasons. He suited up for just 31 games over the past two seasons, and will hopefully play twice as many in this upcoming season alone.

Canadiens prospect Logan Mailloux sent to London Knights

Mailloux played 12 games with the Knights last season, scoring three goals and nine points. He was then injured in a fight and missed the rest of the season with a shoulder ailment. He is now finally recovered from that injury and ready to join his Junior teammates.

In 2020-21, Mailloux missed considerable time as well, with the OHL shut down for the entire year due to the global pandemic. He went to Sweden to play in their Tier-3 pro league and scored seven goals and 15 points in 19 games.

He has missed the Knights first three games of the season and they lost them all. The Canadiens prospect will take on a huge role with the Knights, who usually find a way to be near the top of the standings in the OHL.

Hopefully Mailloux can remain healthy and have a strong season for the Knights. A 6’3″ and over 200 pound right shot defender who can skate well and play both ends of the ice is a difficult piece of the puzzle to find. If Mailloux can stay on the ice and reach his potential, he will be joining an already young Canadiens defence in the near future.
