The Montreal Canadiens are putting the final touches on their 2022-23 roster.

As the Montreal Canadiens continue to prepare for the 2022-23 season, including making some final roster moves and final cuts. Whether it be sending Filip Mesar to Laval Rocket for the start of the season rather than the OHL or making a move to send Kevin Poulin to AHL training camp.

For the Montreal Canadiens, there will be some forthcoming decisions and changes that could change the landscape of the team’s roster as the 2022-23 season draws near. Even in a time when things are being viewed as a rebuild, there will be storylines to follow.

The Canadiens are hoping for a season focused on development and growth as they piece together the vision for their younger players. For the younger players, it could be a year filled with adversity, and for the veterans, it may be a rebuild that has negative connotations.

That said, here are three players that Canadiens fans should keep an eye on during the 2022-23 season. There are two younger players and a veteran that fans should watch during the upcoming season.

Montreal Canadiens faithful should pay attention to Nick Suzuki in 2022-23.

It has been quite the offseason for Nick Suzuki, or at least quite the August/September for him. He was officially named the captain of the Habs ahead of the 2022-23 season. He is the youngest captain in the history of the franchise, taking the reins as his inaugural season as the team’s captain draws near.

For the Montreal Canadiens, it will be important for Suzuki to jump into his new role as the team’s leader. From the team’s initial reactions, it sounds like Suzuki is well supported by the locker room and expected to be able to grab the new role by the horns and get things going.

Suzuki is entering his fourth season with the Habs organization. He’s coming off the 2021-22 season where he boasted a 21-goal, 40-assist season to muster 61 total points on the year with the Habs.

This could be a big year for the Canadiens’ new captain. It will be a good chance for him to start getting acclimated as a “leader” to help captain this team through the rebuild. The hope when selecting Suzuki as the team’s new captain is that he can be here through the other end of the rebuild as the team’s captain.

Time will tell, but it will be interesting to see how he handles things in his first year as captain of the Canadiens organization.
