Montreal Canadiens: Three Sleepers To Consider With Habs Many Picks Today

The Montreal Canadiens never seem to have enough scoring and offence. They, like many team, prefer to gamble on big players and hope they learn to score somehow down the road. Why not gamble on a terrific scorer and hope he can bring his defensive game to the next level with NHL level coaching?

Jordan Dumais is an incredible offensive player. He started the season strong for the Halifax Mooseheads and just got better and better as the year went on. He became a key contributor for the Mooseheads and then an unstoppable force in the QMJHL.

By season’s end, the L’Ile Bizard, Quebec native had scored 39 goals, 70 assists and 109 points in 68 games. He led the league in assists, displaying terrific playmaking abilities on a nightly basis and was among the league’s leading scorers even though he didn’t turn 18 until April when the season was all but over.

We drooled all over Joshua Roy’s production all season in the QMJHL and he finished the year with 119 points and is a year older. Roy was a steal in the 5th round of the 2021 NHL Draft and Dumais could follow.

The Mooseheads winger is ranked a third or maybe fourth round pick by many because he is 5’9″ and his ability to battle for pucks isn’t great. He has so much talent with the puck on his skill though, and it would be wise for the Canadiens to take a look his way in the third round.

A lot of teams like to bet on size, but why not bet on a super skilled winger who is putting up ridiculous numbers in the QMJHL as a 17 year old?
