The Montreal Canadiens have a plethora of former players in the Hall of Fame. There are no shortage of players enshrined wearing a Canadiens jersey.

Habs have been enshrined for so long in the Hall of Fame some of them are wearing sweaters and not jerseys. Every single position on the ice has several big name Habs in the Hall of Fame.

Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy and Jacques Plante in goal. Larry Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe and Doug Harvey on defence. Maurice Richard, Guy Lafleur, Yvan Cournoyer, Toe Blake and Dickie Moore on the wings. Of course Jean Beliveau, Howie Morenz, Elmer Lach and Henri Richard at centre.

Still, there are even more Canadiens players who deserve to be inducted alongside these all time greats. Every year the Hall of Fame inducts another class of up to four males and two female players, but they have repeatedly missed the mark on a few different players.

Yesterday, the latest class of Hall of Fame members was announced. It had a distinct Vancouver Canucks feel about it as Roberto Luongo, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin were voted in and they will be joined by Daniel Alfredssonand Riikka Sallinen. Herb Carnegie was also inducted in the builder category.

There are no bad choices on that list, but their induction into the Hall of Fame leaves a few questions about former Habs who have similar production in their careers. Each of the Sedin’s did win a Hart Trophy in their careers which puts a cherry on top of a solid resumé.

Alfredsson did not win a Hart Trophy, or any other individual award, nor did any of these players win a Stanley Cup. That should further open the door for these three former Canadiens players who deserve to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame as well.
