In this edition of “Meet A Habs Fan” we come back closer to home in Pincourt, Quebec. We meet Sierra who admittedly started her fandom a little later in life, but quickly became a hardcore fan!

I am a late bloomer when it comes to becoming a Habs fan. I know. It’s shameful, but once I joined the bandwagon I have not turned back!

The year was 2014, that season we infamously lost to the Rangers in the Conference Finals. I can’t remember the exact moment but Montreal was in the playoffs and I got wrapped up in the excitement, like most Montrealers. We didn’t go to the finals, but thus began my love and appreciation for the sport, through thick and thin!

I have many favorite Habs players but my absolute favorite is definitely Carey Price. His professionalism on and off the ice and his body of work speaks for itself. I hope he retires as a Hab! Some honorable mentions include P.K. Subban, Goal Caufield and Artturi Lehkonen, each for different reasons but overall for being great players.

There are obviously a lot of great moments to choose from. The one that really comes at the front of the line is the 2021 run to the Stanley Cup Finals. An added bonus was beating the Leafs in the first round. It has been almost 30 years since we’ve been there and that ride , the excitement, the joy that it brought the whole city where we all came together was simply magical.

The complete shakeup of upper management, bringing in Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes, as well as bringing in Martin St. Louis also stands out as a moment I won’t forget.

The future definitely looks to be the brightest it has been in at least a decade. New personnel, new structures in place for player development, the emergence of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caulfield and most importantly the number one draft selection for Montreal in over 40 years! I never thought I’d be so optimistic and happy to look forward to the future after such a difficult season but I am looking forward to the Habs once again being a dominant team in the league!
