We announced this on our social media Montreal Canadiens fans, but now it’s time to make things official on A Winning Habit’s website – The Hamburgler is no longer a Montreal Canadien.
Andrew Hammond revitalised himself and the Montreal fan base as a whole, delivering inspiring performances on the ice. In 4 games with the Canadiens, 3 of them starts, he held a perfect 3-0-0 record with a 2.40 goals against average and a tidy .940 save percentage. Amazing considering Hammond hadn’t played in an NHL game in 4 years.
It made sense in the end to trade Hammond as he was the odd man out. With Jake Allen back to being healthy and Carey Price aiming for a return this season, it was too risky to expose Hammond to the waiver wire.
As for Nate Schnarr, he is an interesting figure. The 23 year old is a right handed shooting centerman, 6’3″ 185 lbs and was a 3rd round pick for the Arizona Coyotes in 2017. He was one of the pieces sent to New Jersey in the trade that sent Taylor Hall to the Coyotes in 2019.
What stands out the most in Schnarr is his resume. During the 2018-19 season, Nick Suzuki was traded to the Guelph Storm in the OHL. That year the top scorer on the team? Nate Schnarr with 34 goals and 68 assists for 102 points in 65 games.
Schnarr’s physical strength makes up for his average speed. He won’t outskate you but can outbeat you like a rushing bull. His long reach has been used often leading him to some success offensively.
Schnarr can definitely become an important piece for the Laval Rocket who are fighting for a playoff spot. With the Utica Comets this season he has 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 43 games, during what could be considered his professional breakout season.
