Mathieu Perreault has been put on waivers this morning a mere four days after his teammate Cedric Paquette hit the waiver wire. Paquette cleared and is reporting to the Laval Rocket in the AHL.

Perreault has played in only 18 games this season for the Canadiens having registered 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points. All three goals were scored against the Detroit Red Wings in October. He has been the victim of a myriad of injuries including one serious eye injury that almost put an end to his playing career.

Unlike Paquette, there is a chance that Perrault is claimed by another team. Perreault has a reputation as being a hard worker and could help give some depth to a contending team. It has been reported that he is open to moving if given the chance to win the Stanley Cup.

"Mathieu Perreault is open at the idea of finishing the season with another team in order to have a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Extending his season would mean extending the opportunity to prove that he still has what it takes to play in the NHL. – Translation of Tweet by Marc Antoine Godin."

The waiver move might signify the impending return of Christian Dvorak from the injury list. He has been cleared for contact on Tuesday and has so far missed 19 games due to an upper body injury. Dvorak has 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points in 34 games this season.

Cayden Primeau should be the next to join the Rocket although he wouldn’t need to clear waivers. Jake Allen is expected to return on Thursday against the Dallas Stars thus forcing management to send a goaltender down.
