Eric Engels of Sportsnet has broken the news that the Montreal Canadiens are expected to hire Adam Nicholas in a player development role.

This is huge news for the Montreal Canadiens organization as a whole. Adam Nicholas is very respected in the hockey world and is a considered an elite skills coach.

Nicholas is currently a consultant to the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2019 and is the founder of Stride Envy, a player development program that has helped players such as Zdeno Chara, Clayton Keller, Noah Hanifin, Colin White, Jordan Greenway and Connor Garland. He has also worked with the New York Rangers, and has consulted at many levels including the QMJHL, USHL and NCAA.

Check out this amazing video below that features who Adam Nicholas is and the impact he has on players of all levels.

Expect a more formal announcement to be made sometime this week.

After the hiring of Martin St. Louis as the new Interim Head Coach, Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes has been working hard to not only change but upgrade the identity of the Montreal Canadiens. Vincent Lecavalier has been hired as a special consultant to the Hocker Operations department, Nikolai Bobrov is now Co-Director of Amateur Scouting along with Martin Lapointe and John Sedgwick has been promoted to Assistant General Manager.

The hiring of Nicholes only furthers the plans to create an actual Player Development Department, something that has been lacking during Marc Bergevin’s tenure as Canadiens GM. Along with an Analytics Department, this is a necessary and pivotal group that every NHL team must have.
