The Montreal Canadiens have taken us fans on quite a rollercoaster. The last team to make it into the playoffs is in the Stanley Cup Finals. The team that looked dead in the water after the fourth game in the first round against Toronto.

And similarly to 1993, no one outside of the most deluded of fans believed Montreal would make it this far. Well, who’s delusional now?

So how did this happen exactly? How did everyone get this so wrong? Someone made a whole lot of money betting on Montreal in this series. Like any playoff run there are wins and there are losses. But it is what the Canadiens did after those losses and errors that got them here.

The credit is overflowing and belongs to everyone. There are no freeloaders on or off the ice. Dominique Ducharme, Alex Burrows and Luke Richardson deserve so much credit, and they have the entire team buying in. Even with Ducharme out of the final 4 games due to COVID, the team still pulled through and are now looking at the Tampa Bay Lightning as confident as ever.

They will face a juggernaut but have been up to the challenge against tough competition already this postseason.

What has been the key to their run?
