After an amazing and near-perfect Game 5 in Las Vegas, the Montreal Canadiens are back in Montreal and are getting ready to face the Vegas Golden Knights for what could be their last matchup this season.

Game 6 is tomorrow, which also happens to be Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, so the fans, inside or outside the Bell Centre will be going extra crazy. Hopefully, that’ll be even more motivating for the Canadiens.

In Game 5, everybody, every line, defensive pair, and of course, Carey Price, came together and won it together and for each other. They looked strong everywhere on the ice, and if they can do the same for Game 6, it should be game over for the Knights.

However, they’re a team that strives when in deficit and struggles when leading (in both games and series), so it’s far from being over yet.

But the Canadiens have been doing a great job at shutting them down, not allowing them to enter their zone, and frustrating them. Last night, we saw the Habs frustrate Mark Stone, Alex Pietrangelo, and even Marc-André Fleury.

And yes, you guessed it, Brendan Gallagher was a big part of it, getting in FLeury’s face and laying hits on and chirping Pietrangelo. Gallagher also did a great job defensively last game, taking the puck away from Vegas on multiple occasions. He’s a huge part of the team no matter whether he gets on the scoreboard or not, and we saw it last night.

And I’m willing to bet that he and others on the team (Corey Perry and Josh Anderson included) will continue to make the Knights’ lives miserable.

It’s been a crazy ride so far, and I hope it keeps getting crazier. But, no matter what happens, the Canadiens have come further than anyone had expected, and that only makes me question what next season will look like.

But for now, the Canadiens are one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals, and that’s huge, so let’s enjoy it.

On the other side of things, the Tampa Bay Lightning leads the series 3-2 against the New York Islanders. They will face off tonight at 8 p.m. EST, as the Islanders risk elimination.

Could the underrated dream of a Canadiens vs Islanders finals be over soon?
