Montreal Canadiens home games have been interesting for all the wrong reasons this week. They hosted the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Semifinals, and though both games were great, everyone was talking about something else.
Though both games went to overtime and each team came away with a victory, everyone was talking about the officials, and not the play of the actual players on the ice.
Chris Lee and Dan O’Rourke were the two referees for each game, but it sounds like they might have done their last game of the series.
With this series being the only one between teams from different countries (so far) in this playoffs, the referees for Game 1 and 2 were the same and the refs for Game 3 and 4 were the same. It’s hard to predict what the league was going to do next, but it stood to reason that Chris Lee and Dan O’Rourke would remain the only two referees in Canada and would also call Game 6, hosted by the Canadiens on Thursday night.
According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, that isn’t likely to be the case anymore.
And there’s a decent chance they also work Game 6 in Montréal. https://t.co/qkda5Mew5H

Kelly Sutherland and Eric Furlatt were on the ice for Game 5 last night in Vegas, and it sounds like they will be traveling back to Montreal when the two teams return for Game 6.
I wonder what could have led the league to change the referee assignment for the Canadiens and Golden Knights Game 6….
Two-hander to the face, and somehow every single person wearing stripes ignores it.

Turn his back or not, it’s still a crosscheck. If you do this to someone’s front it’s still a penalty. Turning had no bearing on McNabb’s bad choice. pic.twitter.com/Kz2B7ILuBB

The composure demonstrated by the refs to not blow the whistle on this play is award worthy pic.twitter.com/gQDlIhgUWF
