Montreal Canadiens Have a Chance to End it Tonight in Game 4 vs. the Jets
The Montreal Canadiens will look to keep their winning streak alive and sweep the Winnipeg Jets.
The Montreal Canadiens have officially become the story of the 2021 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, winning six straight games and never trailing in any of them. They will look to extend that streak tonight in another back-to-back situation in Game 4 at the Bell Centre.
The quote from a Montreal fan “2,500 will feel like 25,000” seems to have rung true with fans in the building and the city remembering what it was like back in 1993 when the Habs won 11 straight and won the cup.
Despite losing Jake Evans in Game 1 due to a concussion and a gruesome knockout by Mark Schiefele who is still currently serving a four-game suspension for that hit, the Canadiens have completed dominated the series so far.
This was supposed to go down as the battle between the pipes but it appears Carey Price is running away with it and Connor Hellebuyck seems to look a bit shaky in the first three games of this series.
We have to admit the Jets are down missing Schiefele, and Dylan DeMelo, and normally it would be up to the Quebecor Pierre-Luc Dubois to pick up the slack, but it hasn’t happened and a big reason has been that Montreal is doing a good job of shutting him down.
Montreal is coming off a 5-1 win last night in a game that was one-sided from start to finish and had the Bell Centre once again exploding and being as loud as possible with the 2,500 fans in attendance and the others watching outside on a patio.
Although Montreal is in a very good spot, the Habs did suffer a loss in Jeff Petry who didn’t finish the game due to a freak accident where he got his finger stuck in the camera hole of the glass. So far, Dominque Ducharme has said he will be a game-time decision.
If he is not able to play, look to Xavier Ouellet or Alexander Romanov to make their playoff debut tonight against a Jets team that will look to stay alive and force a Game 5 back in Winnipeg. The Canadiens will need to stick to their game and keep playing with that sense of urgency.
Game 4 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST and will be available on NBCSN, NHL Network, CBC, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports in French.
