Tomas Tatar and Phillip Danault make up two thirds of Montreal’s number one line, and both of their contracts are up this year. A lot was made of the off season Marc Bergevin had this year, but this year might be even more important.

It can be questioned if the line of Tatar – Danault – Gallagher is Montreal’s top line, as they have spent part of the year split, and other lines like Anderson – Suzuki – Drouin have been at times more dangerous offensively.

But they are still the line that is trusted to go up against the opposition’s top lines, and especially as of late, they have been on a tear and looking as good as they have ever been.

Brendan Gallagher got locked up long term this off season, signing a big six year 36 million dollar contract. Tatar and Danault are still waiting for their extensions, but will they come? Should they come?

Let’s take a look.
