Tomas Tatar

The Canadiens best line the past two seasons has been the trio of Tomas Tatar, Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher. This season, the threesome hasn’t found quite as much offence as we are used to seeing from them.

Of course, with the great play of newcomers Tyler Toffoli, Josh Anderson and young centre Nick Suzuki, the Danault line hasn’t needed to  lead the way offensively. However, Tatar hadn’t scored since the Habs second game of the season, so he is going to need to find more offence than that if the Canadiens are going to be successful.

He took a step in the right direction last night. Tatar led the Canadiens skaters with six shots on goal, creating far more offence than he has in most games this season. He also brought them within one goal late in the third period, getting to the net and knocking in a loose puck off a Ben Chiarot shot.

Again, there wasn’t a lot to like from the Canadiens last night, but Tatar getting to the net, firing pucks on goal, and scoring an ugly goal is a good sign.
