Joel Armia

Joel Armia missed the last seven games with a concussion suffered when Tyler Myers drilled him in the head with a high hit. There were just a few minutes left in a blowout victory for the Habs but Myers saw an opportunity to run a guy from the blind side who had scored four points that night and he took advantage.

Though his last game was nearly three weeks ago, Armia stepped back into the lineup and looked like he hadn’t missed a game.

He saddled up on the third line with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Tyler Toffoli, which is where he played his first five games, and looked comfortable right away. Coming back from an injury, especially a concussion can take some time to adjust back into things but the Finnish winger played solid immediately.

Armia didn’t score any points, but he played 15:25, helped kill off both Maple Leafs power plays, and showed off some nifty stick handling which he is known to do from time to time.

He wasn’t unbelievable and didn’t even get a point, but it wasn’t the best night of hockey from the Montreal Canadiens, and Armia looked real solid after missing significant time and deserves recognition for that effort.
