Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin did a lot of tinkering with his roster. What will the lines look like next season?

The Montreal Canadiens roster is going to look quite a bit different next season than it did this past year. Gone are veterans like Nate Thompson, Dale Weise and temporary fill-ins like Ilya Kovalchuk and Marco Scandella.

Bergevin was aggressive in the offseason and has made plenty of new addition to the roster.

He has added depth at every position and has the team looking like a much more deep and balanced bunch than they were recently. But what exactly will they look like?

Josh Anderson has arrived and will play a big role on the team’s right wing. He was acquired for Max Domi and a third round pick and was quickly signed to a seven-year contract, so I don’t think Bergevin plans on having him play a depth role. Tyler Toffoli signed a four-year contract with a $4.25 million cap hit and centres Nick Suzuki, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jake Evans will take on full-time roles down the middle that weren’t necessarily theirs last season.

But how will it all fit together? The Habs need to find a spot for both Anderson and Toffoli on the right side, and need will likely try to balance out scoring on all four lines. They don’t really have a superstar up front that needs to get fed minutes, so all four lines need to be ready to take on anyone at any time.

With the youngsters taking over down the middle and a revamped right side, let’s take a look at how things should shake out for the 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens lineup on opening night.
