There are many skills and characteristics needed to be an effective squad in Fortnite, and these four Montreal Canadiens players would make a solid team.
With self-isolation is in effect all over the world because of the COVID-19 outbreak, people have been finding ways to entertain themselves, especially professional athletes. Most NHL players have taken the pause as another opportunity to rest and spend time at home while others have increased their social media presence, and Montreal Canadiens star Brendan Gallagher can speak all about that. But another platform that has seen a higher degree of players in the streaming world, in particular, Fortnite.
Fortnite is an online game that has taken over leaderboards for the last two years. It’s inflated the sport of professional gaming, and no one has been safe from it’s reach. What has been interesting was how it crept into the realm of hockey.
In the past, Fortnite was considered a serious problem as players, both young and old, would spend their time playing instead of preparing themselves for games. It got to a point where the Vancouver Canucks banned the play for Fortnite during the season so their players could stay focused, prompting a funny response from Patrik Laine, a known Fortnite player.

Now we’re seeing players turn to Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone and EA’s NHL20 for entertainment. With the youth on the Montreal Canadiens, they’ve definitely indulged in the play, but what if we brought the platform into a real-life context?
All the online components of Fortnite entail being the last person standing in a battle royale. You can either play by yourself taking on 99 other players, have a partner in Duos or a four-player team in Squads. Say we put the Montreal Canadiens into the game of Fortnite and asked them to win a game.
To win, you need to be resourceful and quick thinking while also having the speed to eliminate opponents and build structures to box out others or gain the high-ground in a fight. With that in mind, these four Habs players would be the best option to eliminate all the others and grab that Victory Royale for themselves.
