Montreal Canadiens: Brendan Gallagher is coming for Max Domi’s title

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Domi was recognized by the NHLPA for being an excellent follow on social media, but Brendan Gallagher is stepping his game up.

The Montreal Canadiens triggered a series of debates with the latest 2019-20 NHLPA Player Poll marking Carey Price as the best goaltender in the league. It wasn’t only fans of other teams raising eyebrows at the vote, but Habs fans themselves thought the choice was funky. But it’s important to remember it’s the players who vote and Price getting the nod is more so a sign of respect and recognition than being dubbed the statistical king of the crease.

Price was the only on-ice winner of the player poll while the likes of Tomas Tatar, Youppi!, the Bell Centre and Max Domi were recognized in the off-ice categories. Domi didn’t lead the pack, but he was voted in the top five of best follows on social media tied with Brad Marchand at 4.37%.

I looked at some of Domi’s better posts of the season, and many of them were entertaining. However, with the NHL on pause, it seems as if Brendan Gallagher wants to be known as the Montreal Canadiens’ main social media follow.

A lot of NHL players have joined the TikTok universe, recording videos of themselves working out or doing some interesting dances with loved ones. Gallagher has stepped his game up with a pair of funny skits on the platform.

The first will be special for fans of The Office. In his first TikTok, Gallagher does a proper impersonation of Jim Halpert as Dwight Schrute.

Perhaps the bird was named after Boston Bruins play-by-play Jack Edwards, and if that’s the case, it flying away isn’t too much of a sting.

Either way, it’s nice to see NHL players having fun with their time off. Brendan Gallagher has always been a funny player on the ice, and you need to be with how up close he gets on the action. But the rest of the hockey world is finally getting to experience the humour the Montreal Canadiens are privy to on a daily basis.
