The Montreal Canadiens played three games last week and gathered five of the six available points in the standings. How did it affect them in the latest Atlantic Division Power Rankings?

The Montreal Canadiens have finally gone on a bit of a run this season. They started the year going back and forth with wins and losses and staying in the middle of the standings, but have been gathering points in nearly every game for the past few weeks.

Last week, they went 2-0-1, tying a game late against the Columbus Blue Jackets and winning it on a Jonathan Drouin shootout goal. Then they beat the Washington Capitals on Friday night in their most complete and impressive victory of the season. They followed that up with a less than impressive outing against the New Jersey Devils, but added a point in the standings with a 4-3 loss in overtime.

It was the best week of any team in the Atlantic Division this week as the Habs division rivals didn’t have their best performances over the past seven days. The Boston Bruins had an odd week, winning just one game but putting up four points in three games. The Detroit Red Wings had the same 1-0-2 record.

The Toronto Maple Leafs see themselves falling in the standings once again as they dropped all three games they played and were fishing pucks out of their net with great frequency. The Panthers jump up the rankings as they won a pair of games but they aren’t without fault either, as they are having a hard time defensively.

How does it all affect the Atlantic Division Power Rankings? Take a look here and see where the Canadiens rank after going on a hot stretch for the past few weeks.
