The Montreal Canadiens only played three games last week. They won two on the road but lost the final game of the trip. How did it affect them in the latest Atlantic Division Power Rankings?

The Montreal Canadiens are off to an inconsistent start to their season. They have often found ways to battle back late in games to force overtimes and win late and steal a point here and there. They rarely have put together a full 60 minutes and dominated a game from start to finish.

They are currently 6-5-2 in the standings and sitting fifth in the Atlantic Division standings. They are just one point back of the Toronto Maple Leafs and played one less game. They have also defeated the Maple Leafs in both meetings with them in October.

The Habs have been scoring goals at will, being the third team to hit the 50 goal plateau for the season in their win over the Vegas Golden Knights. They have also allowed 45 goals in 13 games which is far too high. They need to sort out their penalty kill and limit those goals against in the future if they want to overtake this division.

Elsewhere in the division, the Boston Bruins continue to roll, the Buffalo Sabres show their first blemish, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs continue to underperform and the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators ensure they maintain their positions at the bottom of the division.

The Canadiens had a solid road trip, heading out west and playing three games in four nights against tough teams. They came away with four points in those games which is a successful journey west for sure. Let’s see how that affects this week’s edition of the Atlantic Division Power Rankings.
