The Montreal Canadiens take on the St. Louis Blues looking to bounce back from a disappointing home opener. Here is your preview, who to watch, start time and how to watch tonight’s contest.
The Montreal Canadiens are off to an exciting start to the 2019-20 season. On opening night, they climbed back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes would tied the game in the third period and win it in a shootout.
Two nights later the Habs fell behind 4-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs before storming back to take a 5-4 lead. The Leafs would tie the game and send it to extra time. This time, the Canadiens would get the last laugh in the shootout and came away with a 6-5 victory.
The fell behind the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 in the third period but once again were able to tie the game. They would lose in overtime as the Sabres capitalized just after a penalty had expired. It left the Habs with a 1-0-2 record but also a growing reputation as a team that can come from behind to win games – especially on the road.
Then, they went home and put forth their most boring effort of the season. The Habs hosted the Detroit Red Wings and went from a free flowing road team that traded chances with their opponent and scored lots of goals, to a team that lost 4-2 on home ice to the Red Wings.
Tonight, the Canadiens host the Stanley Cup champion, St. Louis Blues. The Blues are off to a great start, posting a 3-0-1 record behind great play once again from Jordan Binnington. The Canadiens are going to need a much better effort than the one they put forth against the Red Wings.
