The Montreal Canadiens travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres tonight. Here is your preview, who to watch, start time and how to watch tonight’s contest.

The Montreal Canadiens are off to an exciting start to the 2019-20 season. On opening night, they climbed back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes would tied the game in the third period and win it in a shootout.

Two nights later the Habs fell behind 4-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs before storming back to take a 5-4 lead. The Leafs would tie the game and send it to extra time. This time, the Canadiens would get the last laugh in the shootout and came away with a 6-5 victory.

Tonight, they head to Buffalo to take on the Sabres. The Sabres started their season with convincing victories over the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils. The Sabres lost on Monday night in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets, but are off to an impressive 2-0-1 start.

More from Habs News

The Canadiens will be looking to match that record with a win in tonight’s game. The Habs will likely go with the same lineup they used in their first two games. Nick Cousins left practice yesterday with an injury but he was a healthy scratch for both games this season. Shea Weber also missed practice but it was reported that was just for rest.

The Canadiens are likely going to start Keith Kinkaid for the first time this season. They play against the Detroit Red Wings in their home opener tomorrow night at the Bell Centre and are planning on resting Carey Price for that matchup.

The Canadiens had trouble solving the Sabres early last season. Buffalo won the first meeting between these two teams by a 4-3 score in October. They played each other twice in November and both times the Sabres came away with overtime victories. Every point counts in the standing and the Habs eventually missed the postseason by two points. A better start against the Sabres could have been the difference last season.
