The Montreal Canadiens have several prospects at the World Junior Summer Showcase. It begins today with Cole Caufield, Jordan Harris and Jacob Olofsson are in action today.
The Montreal Canadiens have four prospects suiting up at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth, Michigan this week. Three of them will be in action today. Defenceman Jordan Harris and forwards Cole Caufield and Jacob Olofsson will put their talents on display as they attempt to make an impression before the next World Juniors.
First off, Harris who is part of USA Team White, is taking on Team Finland at 1:00 PM. Harris played College hockey last season for Northeastern and although he is a left shot he mostly played on right defence.
Yesterday, during the USA scrimmage, Harris played on the top pairing with K’Andre Miller. Miller had 22 points in 26 games for Wisconsin in NCAA last season and is a returning member of the World Junior squad.

He will also be a teammate of Canadiens top prospect Cole Caufield next season. Caufield is also trying out for the World Junior team and will be playing against Sweden at 4:00 PM. He was the 15th overall pick by the Habs at the most recent draft and should be a top six scoring threat for USA at the World Juniors in December.
Caufield will be playing against another Habs prospect, as Jacob Olofsson is suiting up for Sweden. Olofsson was a second round pick by the Canadiens in the 2018 NHL Draft. He scored nine points in 34 games for Timra in the Swedish Hockey League.
Olofsson was held scoreless at last year’s World Juniors, but should be playing a top six centre role for the Swedish team this year. It will be interesting to see how he fares against a tough American team today.
Canadiens Allan McShane is also at the event, but Canada does not start play until Tuesday when they take on Team USA.
The same four teams that play today are back in action tomorrow. Caufield’s team takes on Finland in the early game, while Harris will face Olofsson in the evening contest.
The showcase continues until next Saturday, August 3rd and is a great summer look at some of the Montreal Canadiens top prospects as they gear up for a huge season in their development.
