The Montreal Canadiens have more contracts to sign including Artturi Lehkonen, the NHL playoffs have been crazy, and the prospects are continuing to grow.

1) What do you make of the playoffs so far?

Emmanuel D: The playoffs come to show that as long as you can get in, anything could happen. I don’t think anyone was expecting Calgary, Pittsburgh and Tampa to be eliminated in the first round. Two of these teams were even swept. This has been one of the most interesting playoffs in recent years and its nowhere near over.

The only series I haven’t watched is the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators, but all of the others have been very fun to watch. My favourite team to watch is the Columbus Blue Jackets since they exceeded all expectations by sweeping the President’s Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning. However, now teams aware that the Blue Jackets are competitive and they will have a tough matchup in either the Maple Leafs or Bruins. The element of surprise is now gone.

Another team that has arguably been of the best stories this season is the New York Islanders. Sweeping the Penguins was very impressive and the fact that they’re doing this a season after Tavares left makes things even more entertaining. I’m not one for old-school defensive hockey but what Trotz has done with the team is clearly working and makes the Islanders an interesting team to follow. If they keep up this play, I’m predicting they can make it to the Conference Finals.

Dillon ‘Dom’ Dominique: Very exciting. A few upsets so far with the Lightning getting swept by the Blue Jackets and the Penguins getting swept by the Islanders. Vegas looks like a powerhouse team with Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty leading the way against the Sharks. The Leafs are giving the Bruins fits and that series could come to an end in game seven on Tuesday night.

The Blues upset the Jets taking the series in six games which is one of the bigger surprises for me as I had Winnipeg in the Stanley Cup Final before the playoffs started. Nashville loses to Dallas in OT of game six, their horrible power play being a huge reason for that. Colorado eliminated Calgary in 5 games, another surprise. Their top line is so deadly. Washington and Carolina are all tied up at 3 games a piece. That series will be settled on Wednesday night, and I’m personally predicting the Capitals to come out on top.
