Ryan Poehling was one of several Montreal Canadiens prospects injured, but it was good news to see him practicing with St. Cloud State again.

Montreal Canadiens prospects were dropping like flies. Alexander Romanov is dealing with an injury, and Jesse Ylönen is nursing ailments while Jacob Olofsson finally returned to the Timrå HK lineup on Wednesday. However, Ryan Poehling’s stood out in a not so special way.

This season looks to be the final one for Poehling as he and St. Cloud State try to fight their way to a championship. Over the summer, the Habs 2017 first-round pick voiced his desire to return to college and rally a victory with his team, so learning of his injury and the possibility that he could miss games because of it didn’t sit well.

However, Poehling took part in a full practice since the incident and looks good to go to play on Friday. The 20-year-old provided more behind what happened, saying it was a fail attempt at a hockey play that ended up catching a Colorado player’s skate sending him into the boards. Poehling also mentions that it was good he got his head up in time indicating things could’ve been a lot worse than they are now.

When asked about how he felt, Poehling said:

"It felt good and I think everything loosened up when I got out there. I’ve been taking it slowly, trying to get me towards feeling good. I think I’m on the right track."

Poehling hasn’t been officially cleared to play, but all signs look that way.
