The Montreal Canadiens are on break until February 2nd, and even though the team should relax, Marc Bergevin has some questions to answer.

January is over as far as the NHL regular season goes. Sure there is the All-Star Weekend coming up, but with Carey Price choosing to sit out – which was a good decision – the Montreal Canadiens won’t have any stock in San Jose.

Nothing to fret about though. The Habs worked their way to a top-three spot in the Atlantic Division, and the goal is to keep that going for the rest of the year. That will rely on the continued play of Price as well as the conjoined efforts of the forward group who have done an excellent job as being one of the more dangerous teams at 5-on-5. The blue line is a big part of that as well with the likes of Jeff Petry, Mike Reilly, and Victor Mete being constant F4s during the rush to add more offensive pressure on the opposition.

These next few days are going to be much-needed time off for the players to take a mental break from it all, but perhaps not for the management group, in particular, Marc Bergevin and Claude Julien.

February is a critical month in the NHL as the final stretch of the regular season kicks into gear. Not many predicted the Habs to be where they are, but now that they are, there are a few questions that need to be asked.
