Max Dom is leading the Montreal Canadiens in goal scoring and is showing no signs of slowing down as the season continues.

18 games into the season and Max Domi is a name on the Montreal Canadiens fans can’t keep out of their mouths. He’s leading the team in scoring and is on an incredible run with points in each of his last seven games. But what’s standing out the most are the goals.

Domi scored his 10th of the year in the team’s 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. It was also the fifth time he got the Habs’ first goal of the game. Pretty ironic, wouldn’t you say?

One of the critics behind the initial trade was the fact that the Montreal Canadiens were giving up goal-scoring by moving Alex Galchenyuk. A kind of fair observation at first. Domi had scored only nine goals in each of his past two seasons with the Arizona Coyotes where only five of them were against a goaltender.

But this year, the 23-year-old is on pace to score 45 goals. That’s obviously not going to happen, and if it does then Domi will be the first Montreal Canadien to score 40 since Mark Napier back in the 1982-83 season.

What could happen is the centre setting a new career high in goals by surpassing the 18 he scored during his first year in the NHL. The same can be said about his overall points as he’s only 30 away from matching his high of 52.

But what’s Domi’s secret?
