The Montreal Canadiens have played three games prior to this edition of Weekly Warriors. Winning against the St. Louis Blues, losing in overtime against the Ottawa Senators and finishing the set with a win over the Calgary Flames.
Third Star of the week: Jonathan Drouin
Jonathan Drouin recorded one goal and three assists in the three games the Montreal Canadiens played over the past seven days. He was a factor in the offensive and defensive zones ending the week a +2 and 4 points.
The Canadiens scored a total of 9 goals over the last three games, and Drouin was a part in 44% of those goals. Drouin throughout the week seemed to be dangerous every time he stepped onto the ice, whether it was an attempt on net, a setup pass or a clean zone entry it seemed that everything Drouin did over the course of the last three games went right for the talented French man.
Jonathan Drouin helped lead the Canadiens to a win against the Blues with one assist in a 3-2 win, He also picked up an assist in the Canadiens overtime loss to the Senators, and he added a goal as well as an assist in the win against the Flames on Tuesday.
Notice how Drouin recognizes the defender on his assist doesn’t have a stick and uses that to his advantage allowing him to feather a pass to Petry for the one-time goal.

Second Star of the week: Jeff Petry
Jeff Petry was a very big part of the Montreal Canadiens winning ways during the 3 game stretch. Petry scored a goal and put up two assists good for 3 points. More importantly he managed to play a lot over that time, over the last 3 games he’s played more than 23 minutes playing, over 25 minutes against the Flames.
Jeff Petry recorded a big power play goal against the Flames as it tied the game with just over 4 minutes left to play in the second period.
Ultimately Jeff Petry made a huge impact through his offensive contributions and has helped to soften the blow from missing Shea Weber while he eats up a lot of ice time. The Montreal Canadiens would not have had the success that they had this past week without the steady play of Jeff Petry.
First star of the week: Max Domi
Max Domi was the target of a lot of off-season anger from the fans because he was the return for Alex Galchenyuk. Domi has had a monster start to the season making something happen every time he steps onto the ice.
Domi started this span of 3 games scoring in back to back games against the Blues and the Senators, and then he followed that up with a two-assist night against the Flames giving him 4 points in the three-game span.
Domi enters the offensive zone very deceptively, often coming in on the left side and using his edge work to button hook and begin the cycle. If Max Domi can continue the pace he’s been on there’s no telling what the offense can achieve with him carrying the load.
