The Montreal Canadiens newest star player in Max Domi hasn’t seen too much time against Atlantic teams but will enjoy the challenge this upcoming season.
Max Domi is already starting to check off the crucial boxes with the Montreal Canadiens. He’s had his first media scrum as a member of the team, put on the sweater with a brand new number, and has voiced his distaste for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Leafs were Domi’s childhood team growing up seeing as how long his dad, Tie Domi, was a member of the organization. However, even he has joined the Habs side.
The next thing to look forward to will be his first game as a Montreal Canadien. Domi has established himself as an effective playmaker in the NHL, but it’ll still be interesting to see what kind of impact he has on the roster. And that will be a new experience for the 23-year-old in of itself.
Domi has mostly seen Pacific Division teams in his three seasons as a member of the Arizona Coyotes. He’s at a point-per-game against the Anaheim Ducks – 5 goals and 6 assists in 11 games – but the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames have been on the wrong side of Domi offensive surge.

It’ll be a new crop of rivals to compete with for the next two years. Of the six Atlantic Division teams, ignoring the Montreal Canadiens, Domi has the most points against the Buffalo Sabres (7 points in 6 games). That’s not as surprising seeing as how poor of a team the Sabres have been.
The Leafs are the next team in that category. He’s only played four games against them, but 2 goals and an assist aren’t too bad.
Domi has the speed and skill to succeed in the Atlantic where a lot of its teams have that build. There shouldn’t be a problem fitting in individually, and line chemistry won’t take long either. Add in the fact that Domi isn’t hiding how excited he is to get started and you have the ingredients for an impactful debut season.
