Montreal Canadiens: Fans voice their appreciation for Carey Price
Montreal Canadiens fans took to Twitter yesterday to share their favourite memories and thoughts on Carey Price after a tough season.
Carey Price will be the first to tell you that he didn’t have as good a season as he’d hoped. Health and the defensive play of the Montreal Canadiens didn’t help, but there were moments that saw the starting goaltender allow a goal that would be shut down in a previous year. It got pretty claustrophobic for the 30-year-old given his expected pay-raise in 2018.
The numbers speak for itself. Price finished with the lowest save percentage among the four goaltenders to play for the Habs. The accumulation of the frustration from the team performance on served to intensify the pressure. At times, it seemed like the fans were turning on him.
That changed after the game that had Price surpass Jacques Plante for most games played in Montreal Canadiens history. The team had a video tribute for him ending in an extending ovation from all the fans at the Bell Centre. It was something so special and cathartic that reaffirmed the cities love for him.
Stephane Waite appeared on 98.5 Sports yesterday and shared some information from that night. According to the goalie coach, Price felt that 95% of the fanbase didn’t like him anymore.
In response to that, John (@TheEagleDares) took to Twitter to start a movement among Habs fans.
Within minutes, hundreds of tweets with #WeLoveYouCarey were spread all over the platform. The hashtag later became a trending topic in Montreal.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is let someone know that you care. Thanks to John and the rest of Habs nation, Price was reminded of it again. The BC native has been part of the organization for going on 13 years and will still be here for another 10. And if you ask any fan of the team, they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Antti Niemi likely the only UFA to get an extension
With Antti Niemi signed, the Montreal Canadiens are probably through dealing with their pending unrestricted free agents leaving Adam Cracknell and Chris Terry to walk.
The Evander Kane contract works in Bergevin’s favour
Evander Kane is on the verge of signing a seven-year $49 million contract with the San Jose Sharks which does nothing but good for Marc Bergevin in the offseason.
Antti Niemi Signing Guarantees Nothing
Niemi’s extension doesn’t guarantee that he is the backup next season. If anything, it will be a fight for the spot between him and Charlie Lindgren.
