Montreal Canadiens prospect Will Bitten has some silver in his collection after defeating the Kingston Frotenacs in Game 5 winning the Eastern Conference.
The Hamilton Bulldogs playoff run is as strong as ever after Game 5 Thursday night. Kingston responded well in Game 4 after falling 3-0 in the series, but the Bulldogs managed to put them away in a much more close and structured win. It’s already been an eventful season for Montreal Canadiens prospect Will Bitten, and he can add Eastern Conference Champion to the list of memorable events.
Kingston scored the opening goal of the game thanks to Jason Robertson, but Justin Lemcke tied the game for the Bulldogs in the second period. Bitten didn’t get a point by the end of the 60 minutes. However, he was on the ice for the eventual game-winner. It wasn’t much, but the 19-year-old did well to get into the crease and contribute to the chaos in front of the Frotenacs net.
All the traffic allowed Connor Walters‘s top corner wrist shot to find it’s way past Jeremy Helvig to make it a 2-1 hockey game. The Bulldogs assembled winning the Bobby Orr Trophy and earning a chance to compete for the Wayne Gretzky Trophy.
Just like how it’s been all playoffs, Hamilton will have to wait and see who their opponents will be. The series between the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds and Kitchener Rangers are currently tied at two. Habs prospect Hayden Verbeek is out indefinitely with a mid-body injury eliminating the chance to see two future Montreal Canadiens players face off against each other.
For now, it’s all celebrations for Bitten. He hasn’t been able to contribute offensively as much as he’d like, save for Game Two, but perhaps the lore of a championship victory sparks him.
