The Laval Rocket are continuing to wrap up a disappointing season as they take on a team lower than them in the standings in the Binghamton Devils.

The Laval Rocket and the Binghamton Devils are two teams who have had less than ideal seasons. One has resulted in a 24-36-7-2 record which is good for sixth in the North Division, while the other has warranted a 22-35-7-4 record good for seventh. Laval has had a rough March as they’re currently riding a five-game losing streak. Some of them have been lopsided including the 8-2 tally to the Belleville Senators. It’s safe to say that the season couldn’t end quickly enough.

However, it’s still ongoing, and there are still things worth paying attention to on this team. Newcomers Jeremiah Addison, Johnny Austin, Anthony Beauregard, and Nikita Korostelev have stepped into the lineup and have had varying degrees of contribution to the roster. In particular, Austin who has found his way on the top pairing next to veteran Matt Taormina.

The list of new names doesn’t stop there. Bailey Webster played his first game for Laval on Wednesday playing on the bottom pair and finished with two shots on goal. There hasn’t been any confirmation yet, but there’s the possibility of new signing Adam Plant getting into the lineup at some point this weekend, perhaps even tonight.

More from Laval Rocket

It’s all about seeing what the Laval Rocket has in their youth as they prepare for next season, and this game against the Devils could be a good way to generate some confidence. Chris Terry is continuing his journey for league lead in points as he already has 65 in the season. Additionally, Kerby Rychel is still impressing as he has 8 goals and 4 assists in 14 games since being traded from the Toronto Marlies.

Binghamton is on a little bit of a skid as well as they’ve lost their last three. Their games against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Utica Comets were close ones, but Syracuse completely dominated them. Expect them to look for a response game.

Laval has had strong starts lately but have fizzled out as the night continues. If they want to win this game, they’ll have to keep their drive going for the full 60 and limit the number of mistakes.
