It’s the hump of the latest break for the Montreal Canadiens as they have another two days off before they’re back on the ice for a game.

Did you ever read the Dr. Seus story, The Zax. Basically, these two characters who are very stubborn only choose to either walk north or south and never in any other direction. One day, they end up blocking each other’s path and neither move over causing them to stand there in that spot for year’s as the rest of the world around them grows. That’s kind of how things are going for the Montreal Canadiens right now.

Just for a side note, I’m not criticizing anything going on with the team. The reason why that comparison fits is that the Habs haven’t played since Sunday. They’re staying still, while the rest of the league is continuing to go on.

If you’re on Team Push, then you may be discouraged to hear that the number to get into the second wild-card spot is eight. The New York Islanders dropped a game in overtime to Nashville but managed to leapfrog Philadelphia thanks to the single point. The Habs’ next game on Thursday will be huge as the Flyers are right there and could use that win to keep their hopes alive.

If you’re on Team Tank, Montreal has fallen back into the bottom five after the Oilers laid a heavy smackdown to the Lightning (yes I know I didn’t believe it either, Connor McDavid was motivated). Unfortunately, Cam Talbot got the start and the win, but there will still be other opportunities for Al Montoya to play and get the Habs that fourth-round pick.

More from Habs News

There’s been an ongoing push and pull before each faction of the fan base, and the Habs’ latest wins have added to it. In another three weeks, fans will have to commit to one side, or just be indifferent and see how things play out which seems to be the easiest option.

Which side will you stay on?
