Montreal Canadiens: Finding other ways to be an All-Star

Montreal Canadiens fans didn’t see much of Carey Price during the skills competition, but he did other things to prove that he’s still an All-Star.
The NHL had a handful of changes to the All-Star Skills Competition. Fastest skater, hardest shot, and accuracy shooting (with a new twist to it) were the only returning competitions. Goaltenders were only used in one event which was a first for the skills competition in a save streaks where the goal was to make as many saves in a row as possible. Only five goalies were needed for that one and Montreal Canadiens netminder Carey Price wasn’t one of them.
That decision rubbed Habs fans the wrong way, especially the ones who wanted to see the likes of say a Brendan Gallagher getting the invite instead. Price will take part in the three-on-three All-Star Game later today though, so there will still be an opportunity for him to play with and against the league’s best.
What we did get to see however are some of the other things it takes to be an All-Star, well, at least in my opinion. Stats are one thing, but being a quality person is another thing fans put a lot of weight behind.
Price spent his free time signing a lot of autographs for fans in the stands including getting John Tavares to sign one for a New York Islanders fan.

He also provided some of the ‘dry’ humour Habs fans have seen from him in his post-game interviews.

Good looking out for your fellow Habs teammate there Price. The top pairing has been missed in the team’s minutes for well over 20 games and will hopefully make his return after the break at some point.
Q: Where do you practice breakaways?
A: We practice it in practice.
Probably one of the most hockey answers you’ll ever here. We also found that Price used to play defence growing up. Maybe Claude Julien was tuning in and jotted down some ideas for practice on Monday, who knows?
All jokes aside, it was still nice to see Price hang around with the other players and cut loose a little bit. We all know it’ll be difficult to do that once the team gets back together next week.
