After a scary incident for the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, Phillip Danault is now resting at home and hopefully on his way to a safe recovery.
Although the Montreal Canadiens lost against the Boston Bruins, all we can talk about from that game was what happened to Phillip Danault. The 24-year-old took a Zdeno Chara slap shot to – which we now know specifically – was the lower back side of his head just missing his ear.
Thankfully, Danault was cleared to return home from the hospital to rest. Habs fans also got an update on the situation from Danault’s father Alain Danult via Facebook. The post thanked the fanbase for their thoughts and support stating that all of his son’s scans came back normal.
How long the recovery will be is still up in the air. At the same time, that’s something for Danult, his family, and teammates to get information from. As far as we go, hearing that he’s doing well should be good enough.
Aside from that though, the Habs will be welcoming John Tavares and the New York Islanders to the Bell Centre. We may get the same level of play as Saturday considering both teams are in desperate need for points.

The Islanders are looking to capitalize on the New York Rangers’ recent skid as they’ve lost their last three games, while the Habs are trying to do all they can to lessen the gap between them and the other five teams ahead of them (including the Isles).
At the same time, Montreal may have some additional incentive not to get turnstiled considering Tavares will be a player they’ll be trying to woo over the summer if he remains unsigned.
