Montreal Canadiens: Waiting for some news as the bye week continues
By Omar L
It’s day two of the bye week for the Montreal Canadiens, and although the team is meant to be on break, fans are still keeping their eyes peeled for a change.
Last season’s bye week had the Montreal Canadiens make a change behind the bench. Even though the team was first in the Atlantic Division, they were going through a tough stretch, and they were far from playing the best style of hockey. Claude Julien added more structure to their game for the remainder of the season, but he and the rest of the team couldn’t get much going in the playoffs.
It’s not far off to think that something could happen with the Habs this time around. Does Marc Bergevin get stripped of his job? That’s highly doubtful. General managers rarely get fired mid-season, and it seems like Geoff Molson – at least in public – believes in what he can do. However, the summer may be a different story, but for now, I think his job is safe.

What about Max Pacioretty? The team captain has a goal in each of the Habs’ last two games (yes one was an empty-netter) and is still most likely on the trade block. Is he moved this week? Again we’ll have to put that in the ‘doubt it’ jar considering the price Montreal seems to have for him.
It’s hard to predict things anymore when it comes to the Habs, and now all we can do is wait.
Perhaps we’ll get some answers after this week is over.

Stu Cowan: Marc Bergevin is the man to blame for Canadiens’ poor first half
The team couldn’t score, defend, or play the right way to win and it showed with their 1-6-1 start. Although players were underperforming and the system was questionable at starts, you can’t blame anyone else other than the general manager.
