The Montreal Canadiens practiced Saturday morning in Brossard ahead of their final game before the bye week, and we got news that Carey Price may miss it.

It’s Saturday and therefore Hockey Night in Canada. However, the Montreal Canadiens won’t be playing, which happens, but is still weird. The team still got together to practice in Brossard this morning as they’re set to play the Vancouver Canucks at home before have their bye-week.

Everyone was accounted for except for Carey Price who missed practice battling a virus. You may be thinking, “Wow. Too bad he got sick right after the Tampa game”, but Price was sick during it. Meaning, that legendary save that will be on Top 10s for the rest of the year was Price not at 100%. He never ceases to amaze us.

The Habs had 32-year-old local firefighter Bryce Luker fill in for him. There’s a chance that Price could sit out of Sunday’s game giving Antti Niemi his first start since the game against the Edmonton Oilers in December. It could be a good chance for the backup to get his first win of the season considering the Canucks will be on the second half of a back-to-back.

Claude Julien also gave a small update on Victor Mete. The Habs are allowing the gold medal winner to return home to Woodbridge to get some well-deserved rest. A decision regarding where he goes next will come soon after.

The talk is that it will be junior and then the Olympics for Mete, but we’ll have to see. If anyone on the Habs was the happiest for the rookie winning, it was probably Andrew Shaw.
