It’s been a great stretch for the Montreal Canadiens, and they have a chance to extend their win streak to six games against one of the NHL’s best teams.

The Montreal Canadiens have had a few days off since their 10-1 destruction of Detroit. You never want to be that person who throws shade on a good thing, but it’s difficult to look at the teams the Habs have been beating and think that they’ve been challenged.

Sure if you fast forward a couple of weeks in the past, they were in the position those teams are in now. However, Detroit, Buffalo, Ottawa, you should beat those teams. Columbus was an impressive win, but many have mentioned that Sergei Bobrovsky wasn’t at his best. All of that put together has made some Habs fans skeptical of the team’s success.

The Habs themselves may have that mentality as well, but not to the same extent.

They know the competition is going to get even tougher from here on out and it starts tonight with the St. Louis Blues coming to the Bell Center.

Montreal practiced Sunday, and although Jonathan Drouin skated on his own, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him sit out of this one. The rest of the lineup will probably be the same form Saturday’s game and Carey Price has already been confirmed to be the starter.

The Blues are coming off an overtime loss to Minnesota and are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games. Considering hockey minds around the league are pegging them for potential Stanley Cup Final appearance this year, it would be huge for the Habs get this win. Not only will it be important in meaning, but that’s another two-point gap on Boston.
