The Montreal Canadiens are surrounded by a cloud of possibility, but is it worth it for Claude Julien to make changes when the team is winning?
Waking up in the morning and remembering that the Montreal Canadiens won is a great feeling. Especially when it was the hands of Brendan Gallagher‘s 200th career point and another solid outing by Carey Price. The game did have it’s upsetting moments though.
Shea Weber, unfortunately, wasn’t part of it, making his missed games tally hit four. It wasn’t too surprising, in fact, some fans thought that David Schlemko would make his NHL debut. Claude Julien cleared the air with that prediction telling media before the game that the veteran will play sometime this week.
The rationale was that the Habs coach didn’t want to mess with a lineup that one the game before. That makes sense right? Well, when you look ahead to Wednesday’s match against Ottawa, Julien could have the same mindset and keep the lines the same.

However, there is one change he can make. At this point, it seems like we’re waiting for the eventual news report that Victor Mete will be sent back to junior. The Habs coaching staff is definitely not doing their best in calming the storm as the 19-year-old only played six minutes in the Columbus game.
If Julien decides to play Schlemko on Wednesday, you have to think Mete will be the one sitting out. As for what happens later is up in the fair. The Montreal Canadiens don’t necessarily have to make a decision now since Weber is still out. Even so, they’ll have to make one soon.
