After missing the past eight games with a lower-body injury, Carey Price told reporters that he will start for the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.
Finally! You can tell that Montreal Canadiens fans were continuing to get more worried about the situation with Carey Price. When the team first announced that he would be out with a lower-body injury, they made sure to highlight that it was minor. You may not remember, but we were initially told that he would only miss that Saturday game against the Winnipeg Jets.
Luckily Charlie Lindgren was able to come in give the Habs a chance to win every night. He started eight out of the team’s next nine games with a 3-4-1 record and a .924 save percentage.
Now the Montreal Canadiens have their true starting goaltender back.

The season didn’t start his way at all. Part of it was because of the team defence as a whole, but Price himself didn’t look steady. Hopefully, he returns to form. Considering the Habs have lost their last five games, having the 30-year-old to help stop the bleeding is going to be ideal.
#Habs Price says he switched back to his old goalie skates (with cowlings) for familiarity in hopes of giving himself an edge. Sharp-eyed goalie equipment junkies have pointed this out in recent days.

With Price being activated off injured reserve, you have to think the Wall of Lindgren will be sent back to the Laval Rocket. That’s unfortunate considering how well he played in the NHL lately. At the same time, Antti Niemi‘s solid performance against the Nashville Predators probably gave Marc Bergevin piece of mind.
The Habs don’t necessarily have to make that decision until David Schlemko is taken off injured reserve, which may be soon considering he was sent down on a conditioning stint. We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out, but Price returning to action is the best news the Montreal Canadiens have had in a long time.
