There are some updates from Montreal Canadiens camp as they continue to look for their first preseason win, this time against the New Jersey Devils.

The preseason action continues for the Montreal Canadiens tonight as they take on the New Jersey Devils. It was a better effort from the team Wednesday night, but they didn’t get the results.

It turns back to the Alex Galchenyuk line with Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher to lead the way for the Habs. Additionally, Nikita Scherbak, Daniel Carr, and Jakub Jerabek will be playing their second game in a row. The KHL free agent had a much better performance in against the Washington Capitals and had the secondary assist on Charles Hudon‘s opening goal.

Carr was very effective for Montreal as well, the same can’t be said for Scherbak. However, he’ll be getting another chance to respond for the team. Again eyes will be on Brett Lernout to see if he matches how good he was against the Senators.

Training Camp Updates

The Montreal Canadiens reduced their camp roster by seven Thursday morning. Jordan Boucher, William Corrin, Kevin Dufour, Alexandre Goulet, James McEwan and Saverio Posa will be at the Laval Rocket’s camp, while Maxime Fortier was send back to the Halifax Mooseheads. Corrin put up 26 points for the Brampton Beast last season. He’ll be a name to look for to make an already stacked looking Rocket team.

None of these players took part in any of the exhibition games. Fortier stood out among the camp invites at the rookie tournament, but probably didn’t do enough during main camp to get a serious look. There’s obvious skill there, and with another year of turnover, there’s a chance he could get another look from the organization.

The next piece of news is pretty heavy. Noah Juulsen will be out for six weeks with a fractured foot. The injury took place in his first preseason game against the Senators. It’s really unfortunate considering he was pegged to make the Laval Rocket this season. Obviously this doesn’t mean that he wont be on the team, his pro debut we’ll just be pushed back a bit.
