Montreal Canadiens: Preview for Tonight Against the Ottawa Senators
By Omar L
The Montreal Canadiens are set to play their second and final game of the Rookie Tournament tonight against the Ottawa Senators.
Last night the Montreal Canadiens got one. Tonight they hope to make it two against the Ottawa Senators and finish the 2017 Rookie Tournament undefeated. Who knows whether this game will be as energetic as the last, but if it is, Ottawa is in for a rude awakening.
There will be some line-up changes. 2017 3rd round pick Scott Walford will be making his tournament debut. He will be in for Jarret Tyszka who originally wasn’t set to play yesterday but laced up after Josh Brook left the game with an upper body injury.
Speaking of Brook, he will not be returning to the line-up as well. We may not know whether it’s because the injury was more serious than we thought, or to prevent further aggravation of it. I’m leaning more on the side of precaution.

Additionally, camp invite Antoine Samuel will tonight’s starter for the Montreal Canadiens. It may be unfair to trump the performance that Michael McNiven had yesterday. He proved to a lot of people why he should be considered as a top goaltender in the Habs system.
It may be harder for Samuel considering he’s an invite and is fighting for a contract. Other camp invites Alain, Fortier, and Boucher have done well in standing out. It’s Samuel’s turn and getting the team another win will be a great way to do that.
Players to Watch
In terms of players to look out for, eyes should again be on Martin Rèway. He told media yesterday after that he was feeling some fatigue mid-game, but that didn’t stop him from having a solid performance. Especially on the power play.
Thomas Ebbing had two goals for the Montreal Canadiens yesterday, so it’ll be interesting to see whether the can duplicate the same offence tonight. Daniel Audette scored last night as well, but what stood out the most was his defensive game.
Finally, a lot of fans noticed that they didn’t notice Noah Juulsen. The thing is, Juulsen plays a style of game where he is at his best when you don’t notice him. Hopefully he can continue his solid play that will take him into training camp.
