Carey Price preformed very well in his season debut for the Habs. He kicked aside 27 of 29 shots and showed no signs of rust after missing his first 3 games. This was great to see because the Canadiens will need Price healthy if they are going to make a deep run this season.

Many Canadiens played well tonight, however, Shea Weber had a monster game. Weber scored his first goal with the Montreal Canadiens on a Power Play during the second period and also added an assist.  Weber added 3 hits, 4 blocked shots, 4 shots on goal, was a plus 3, and recorded 25:28 of ice time.

Tomas Plekanec and Paul Byron each had multi point games as they each had a pair of assists tonight. Brendan Gallagher also had a strong game assisting on Alex Galchenyuk‘s beautiful toe drag goal in the 2nd period.

1st Period

Alexei Emelin opened the scoring  in the game recording his first goal of the season. David Desharnais skated the puck out the corner and found Paul Byron who passed it over to Emelin. Then Emelin skated to the top of the circle and blasted a slap shot through a screen that went by Domingue.

2nd Period

Nathan Beaulieu made an incredible individual effort coming into the Coyotes zone. Beaulieu was checked and knocked down but he somehow never lost control of the puck. Beaulieu was then able to get up and feed Torrey Mitchell who wired home for his 2nd of the year.
