Gauthier Breaks The Habit
As reported today by the Team 990 Radio’s Tony Marinaro, Pierre Gauthier change the rules of engagement when he supposedly offered Canadiens’ All-Star defenseman Andrei Markov a 1 year contract. It’s rumored that the contract hovers around the same dollar amount of his current. Markov’s agent, Don Meehan, asked for a three-year contract. It’s uncertain if the dollar value was an issue, but it seems the length may be the sticking point. Both sides have yet to comment,
As far as the report itself, a number of media outlets have tweeted in an attempt to discredit Mr. Marinaro’s story. Rest assured, however, that this was also the case in many other scoops obtained by Marinaro. Later, these stories were proven truthful.
The Flying French Wedge?
Canadiens’ coach Jacques Martin, in an effort to stimulate his offense, has commented about imprementing a new offensive attack called “The Flying French Wedge.” The strategy requires the wingers to flank the centre, as a defenseman soft dumps the puck into the offensive zone. With their speed, the offensive players in the V pattern, while conserving energy, would retrieve the puck more easily.
This new strategy sounds an awful lot like the “Flying V” from the Mighty Ducks movies. Why not just hire Emilio Estavez as an assistant coach. If the loss against the Bruins on Thursday wasn’t a big enough embarrassment, this stupidity falls a close second. This coach has become a laughing stock to this league and this organization.

- The Capitals will be without their captain, Alexander Ovechkin for tonight’s game. He’s has an undisclosed injury.
- Alexandre Picard is nursing a foot injury, after blocking a shot at practice a few days back. Funny how he never does that kind of stuff during a game.
- Carey Price will get the start against the Caps. Bruce Boudreau will flip a coin before the game to figure out who he’s starting.
