Habs Post-Game: vs. Buffalo – March 22, 2011

GAME SUMMARY: SABRES 2 – CANADIENS 0

On a night where Canadiens’ fans expected a great effort from the home team, we got nothing.

There was no scoring in the first period.

Nathan Gerbe scored at 8:56 of the second period, off a rebound of a Tyler Myers’ shot. Andre Sekera got the other helper.

Gerbe added an empty netter as well, at the 19:38 mark of the third period, after taking the puck from P.K. Subban in the neutral zone.

GAME POINTS:

  • The Canadiens’ forwards continuously shot the puck at Sabres’ netminder Ryan Miller from the perimeter, and never had any sustained pressure in front of him. The Habs out shot the Sabres 31-24.
  • It was incredible to watch how Buffalo was able to skate circle around the Canadiens all night long. They won the majority of one on one battles.
  • The Habs were skating as if they had cement in their skates, unable to generate any speed in the neutral zone.
  • Carey Price was his usual self, giving his team a chance to win.
  • Both teams went 0 for life on the power play, but Buffalo’s man advantage generated more scoring chances, and was in constant movement.
  • Lars Eller and Alexandre Picard both had difficult games. They turned the puck over repeatedly.
