Subban Selected
After a week that saw him score his first NHL career hat trick, Canadiens’ rookie D-man P.K. Subban was selected the NHL’s third star of the week. Subban
had four goals and two assists in four games. The 21-year-old became the first Canadiens rookie defenceman to score three goals in a game.
Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks was selected the first star, while Anaheim Ducks’ goaltender Ray Emery was given second star honors.
Price Tweaks His Knee
As reported by Marc-Antoine Godin for La Presse and Renaud Lavoie of RDS, via Twitter, Carey Price left the ice at the Canadiens’ practice facility in Brossard early after tweaking something in his right knee. Moments later, after being assessed by the Habs’ medical staff, Coach Martin confirmed that Price would get the start tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. A relief, for now, but certainly something to watch for tonight. Either way, expect the Boston Bruins to smell blood on Thursday and crash Prices’ net at every occasion.
Buffalo will counter with Ryan Miller between the pipes.
Today’s Scratches
Once again, Yannick Weber and Brent Sopel will be out of the lineup for the Canadiens. Andreas Engqvist will suit up and centre the Canadiens’ fourth line.
For the Sabres, forwards Jochen Hecht and Patrick Kaleta, as well as defenseman Steve Montador and goaltender Patrick Lalime will be out of the lineup.
Markov Sighting
While a return is not in the cards for this season, it is certainly good news that injured Habs’ defenseman Andrei Markov skated today.
