As tweeted by the Montreal Canadiens‘ account, Carey Price has been nominated as a finalist for the Hart Trophy.

CANADIENS Carey Price Named Hart Trophy Finalist

Along with forwards Alex Ovechkin (Washington Capitals) and John Tavares (New York Islanders), Price is up for the trophy awarded to the player who has been most valuable to his team.

This adds to Price’s nominations, as he was also named a Vezina Trophy finalist less than a week ago.

Carey Price has set many new franchise records this season, including most games won (44). He has had a spectacular season, with a highlight reel that continues to expand as the Habs go deeper into playoffs.

Price’s humility is one of his best qualities, and while that is not an official factor in awarding the trophy, it does add to his appeal among those who know who he is and what he has done. Price would be the first Canadiens goalie to win the trophy since 2002.

He also shared the William Jennings trophy with Chicago Blackhawks‘ goalie, Corey Crawford, awarded to the goalie(s) who gave up the fewest goals.

Price is a favorite to win the Hart; watch for a forthcoming article on the reasons why.

The awards will be held in June in Las Vegas.
