Canadiens May Be Interested in Chelios’ Son


Chris “Knuckles” Nilan had Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios on his afternoon show on TSN 690 earlier today and chatted about his experience in Montreal. According to Chris Chelios the Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has had a couple looks at his son Jake Chelios who is a defensemen currently playing in his senior year at Michigan State University. Chelios stated that they have had a couple of discussions with his son, but it doesn’t look like anything is imminent in the near future.

Jake Chelios recorded 14 points and 58 shots in 37 games in his rookie year. Chelios was also paired with Matt Grassi in the first part of his sophomore season at Michigan State, Grassi was signed to an AHL contract this season and is currently playing for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. In his junior year Chelios posted 10 points, 74 shots and amassed 52 blocked shots in 42 games. Chelios has recorded 6 assists, 12 shot blocks and is a +2 in 8 games thus far.
