Exactly one year after the lockout began, the Montreal Canadiens begin their pre-season schedule tonight, as they host the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.
The game will be aired on RDS, beginning at 7:30 Eastern Time.
Montreal will only use a fraction of their regular lineup, but it appears the exciting young line of Alex Galchenyuk, Lars Eller and Brendan Gallagher will have an opportunity to show off their skills, as the only true NHL line in the Habs lineup. Eller will be playing his first game since suffering a concussion against the Ottawa Senators in game one of the opening round of the playoffs in May.
According to John Lu, of TSN, the Canadiens full lineup tonight is:
Galchenyuk – Eller – Gallagher
Prust – Reway – Collberg
Bournival – St. Pierre – McCarron
Nystrom – Holland – Andrighetto
Drewiske – Diaz
Tinordi – Pateryn
Lashoff – Nygren
Aside from the Eller line, Canadiens fans will be keeping a close eye on recent draft picks Michael McCarron, Sebastien Collberg and Zach Fucale to see what they can do in their first game action as Canadiens. Fucale will not start the game, but will come on in relief during the second period.
The Canadiens will host the Boston Bruins tomorrow night, and I would expect they ice an entirely different lineup, meaning fans will get their first look at Daniel Briere in a Canadiens sweater very soon.
It may only be the pre-season, but it is finally game day in Montreal once again.
Who will you be looking forward to seeing wear the Canadiens sweater tonight?
