Montreal Canadiens Invite 55 Players To Training Camp

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that 55 hopeful NHLers will be attending their training camp. The camp is set to begin on Wednesday, September 11th, and the players will be subject to physical and fitness testing.

They will hit the ice for the first time on Thursday, with on ice and off ice sessions. The first Canadiens scrimmage takes place Saturday afternoon at the Bell Centre, with proceeds from the game going to the Fonds Avenir Lac Magnetic.

The Canadiens first preseason action will be against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, September 15th at the Bell Centre. The entire Canadiens exhibition schedule is as follows:

Sunday September 15th: Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens

Monday September 16th: Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens

Friday September 20th: Montreal Canadiens at Carolina Hurricanes

Saturday September 21st: Carolina Hurricanes at Montreal Canadiens

Monday September 23rd: New Jersey Devils at Montreal Canadiens

Wednesday September 25th: Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators

Thursday September 26th: Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens

A few surprise omissions from the training camp roster were forward Brady Vail and goaltenders Mike Condon and Peter Delmas. They are the only three Canadiens under contract next season who will not be attending the camp.

Training camp will run until September 30th, with the Montreal Canadiens opening the 2013-14 season on October 1st, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
